Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to tip over hazards:
On or about October 3, 2011, at 6500 Cumming Highway, Sugar Hill, Georgia:
Employees were standing on the midrail and sitting on the top rail of a
scissor lift exposing them
to a tip over hazard.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THESE HAZARDS IS:
ANSI A92.6-1990 Section 7.11.1: Personnel shall maintain a firm footing on
the platform floor
while working thereon.
The employer shall ensure that employees do not sit or stand on the
midrails and/or top rails of
scissor lifts.
No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
