Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:On or About 09/01/11 Location:Battery Charging Area in Unit 27 Condition:An employee who fills forklift batteries with water was not provided with an eyewash that was capable of providing at least 15 minutes of continuous flushing. (b)Date of Violation:On or About 09/01/11 Location:Battery Charging Area in Unit 75 Condition:An employee who fills forklift batteries with water was not provided with an eyewash that was capable of providing at least 15 minutes of continuous flushing. (c)Date of Violation:On or About 09/01/11 Location:Battery Charging Area in Unit 77 Condition:An employee who fills forklift batteries with water was not provided with an eyewash that was capable of providing at least 15 minutes of continuous flushing. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide an eyewash station that can provide 15 minutes of continuous flushing as referenced in ANSI Z358.1 Emergency Eye Wash and Shower Equipment, section 5.1.6. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
