Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:09/07/11 Location:Inside of Chemical Building #1152 Condition:The employees are exposed to caustic materials such as ferric chloride, and the emergency eyewash, blocked by a forklift, was not capable of providing 1.5 liters per minute of flushing fluid to both eyes simultaneously. (b)Date of Violation:09/07/11 Location:Outside of Chemical Building #1152 Condition:The employees are exposed to caustic materials such as ferric chloride, and the emergency eyewash was not capable of providing 1.5 liters per minute of flushing fluid to both eyes simultaneously. (c)Date of Violation:09/07/11 Location:Outside of Chemical Tanks Condition:The employees are exposed to caustic materials such as ferric chloride and the emergency eyewash was not capable of providing 1.5 liters per minute of flushing fluid to both eyes simultaneously. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct these hazards would be to provide emergency eyewashes/showers that comply with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Publication, ANSI Z358.1-2009, Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
