Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer does not
furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment
which are free from
the recognized hazards of falls which are causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical
harm to employees:
This violation occurred on or about 2-2-2012 and times prior thereto, at
the Southwest
side of the construction site employees were exposed to a fall hazard
while overreaching
when working from extension ladders.
Among other feasible methods to correct the identified hazard, one method
would be to
not over reach the ladder per American National Standard for
Ladders-Portable
Reinforced Plastic - Safety Requirements ANSI-ASC A-14.5-2007 Paragraph
9.3.6 Side
Loading.
Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the
abatement date, the
employer must submit documentation describing the actions it is taking
ensure that
employees working from extension ladders do not over reach the ladder.
