employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees:

Condition:The employees were exposed to being struck by or crushed by the
trash truck by
riding in the cab whose doors were open during transit.

Condition:The employees were exposed to being struck by or crushed by the
trash truck by not
wearing seat belts at all times during transit.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to keep all cab
doors closed and latched during transit and have passengers wear seat
belts at all times when the vehicle is in
transit as per Section 6.2.3.2(c) and (e) of the American National
Standards
Institute (ANSI) Z245.1-2007,
Safety Requirements for Refuse Collecting and Compacting Equipment.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.)
is required for this item.
