Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not
furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees:
(a)Date of Violation:07/03/13
Location:Rear of Building
Condition:Employees installing the metal drip edge from a scaffold
platform supported by the
forks of an all terrain forklift approximately located 11 feet 3 inches
above ground
were not secured to the basket or boom of the forklift by a personal fall
arrest system.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to follow the
manufacturer's safe operating procedures in accordance with the manual for
the JLG All Terrain Material
Handler, Model #G6-42A, Lifting Personnel. While lifting personnel in an
approved personnel basket all
occupants must have personal fall arrest systems attached to the basket or
boom.
