Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1):  Duties of employers.  Every employer
shall furnish
employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized
hazards that are causing
or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his or her
employees:
Just For Kids Dentistry did not establish a control plan to minimize or
control occupational
exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis for dental healthcare employees who
have daily contact
with patients.
A feasible and accepted abatement method for reducing this hazard, as
recommended by the
Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is to follow the
Guidelines for Infection
Control in Dental Health-Care Settings and develop a written tuberculosis
(TB) control plan.

tuberculosis.

Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is to follow the
Guidelines for Infection
Control in Dental Health-Care Settings and create a tuberculosis training
program.

tuberculosis skin tests (TST) and tuberculosis infection control policies.
The level of risk for
encountering active tuberculosis in the dental office determines the types
of administrative
controls needed.
A feasible and accepted abatement method for reducing this hazard, as
recommended by the
Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is to follow the
Guidelines for Infection
Control in Dental Health-Care Settings and complete a community risk
assessment.

Just For Kids Dentistry did not offer a baseline tuberculosis skin tests
(TST) to all employees
who have contact with patients at the time of initial hire. If an
unprotected occupational exposure
were to occur, conversions could not be distinguished from positive TST
results
caused by
previous exposures.
A feasible and accepted abatement method for reducing this hazard, as
recommended by the
Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is to follow the
Guidelines for Infection
Control in Dental Health-Care Settings and offer employees a TST screening
at the time of
initial hire.
