29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side and edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. (a) JTC Roofing Inc., at 1510 Clarkson St., Denver, CO 80218: On and before 6/2/11, the exposing employer did not ensure that fall protection systems were utilized by employees engaged in re-roofing activities while working at the unprotected edges of a roof on a commercial building. Employees were exposed to falls in excess of 18 feet with a 6 in 12 pitch.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1): The employer did not provide a training program for each person who might be exposed to fall hazards: (a) JTC Roofing Inc., at 1510 Clarkson St., Denver, CO 80218: On and before 6/2/11, the employer did not ensure that each employee was trained to recognize the hazards of working at elevation and trained in the use of a complete fall protection system. This condition exposed employees to the hazard of fall protection from elevation of approximately 18 feet.
