29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1):     "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and verticalsurface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrailsystems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems:    a. On or about August 8, 2011, at the above addressed jobsite, employees performing painting operations from a bridge were exposed to falls of twenty one (21) feet, created by the presence of an unprotected side.    THE ERA VALDIVIA CONTRACTORS, INC., WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 313178428, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON NOVEMBER 8, 2010, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT HWY 94 OVER ST. CROIX RIVER, HUDSON, WI 54016.
