29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): The employer permitted respirators with tight-fitting facepieces to be worn by employees who had facial hair that came between the sealing surfaces of the facepiece and the face or that interfered with valve function: a). On or about July 29, 2011, and at times prior, employees wearing 1/2 face negative pressure respirators during painting operations had facial hair that could interfere with the proper function of the respirator.
