29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):     Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc.    a)  Sheet Metal Shop:  On August 24, 2011 and at times prior thereto, the Dayton Sander is used without the lower guard exposing workers to rotating hazards including dust particles and debris from plexiglass, aluminum and composite materials used for aircraft maintainance.

29 CFR 1910.305(b)(1)(ii):     Unused openings in cabinets, boxes, and fittings shall be effectively closed.    a) Northwest Hanger Floor:  On August 24, 2011, and at times prior thereto, the electrical cabinet labeled HIA had an opening in the underside which houses the main circuits for areas along the north corridor near the electric, engine and armament shops.    b)  Machine Shop :  On August 24, 2011, and at times prior thereto,  a  4 square plastic box was missing a knockout on the top which supplied electric power to the Lathe.  Model 1754; Serial # 8183 Cat # 51902.    c)  East - Outside Tail Boom Shop and LSI Trailer:  The electrical cabinet labeled had an opening in the underside which houses the main circuits for the calibration van. 29 CFR 1910.157(b)(1):     Where the employer has established and implemented a written fire safety policy which requires the immediate and total evacuation of employees from the workplace upon the sounding of a fire alarm signal and which includes an emergency action plan and a fire prevention plan which meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.38 and 29 CFR 1910.39 respectively, and when extinguishers are not available in the workplace, the employer is exempt from all requirements of this section unless a specific standard in part 1910 requires that a portable fire extinguisher be provided.    a) Hanger 2nd Level - On August 24, 201, and at times prior thereto, the Emergency Fire Evacuation Maps posted did not show current changes in the evacuation routes.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A):     As a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure;    a)  Avionics - Room 54:  On August 24, 2011, and at times prior thereto, a flexible cord was used daisy chained with a power strip in place of  fixed wiring  from the outlet near the entrance running along the wall to workstation # 29    b) Northwest Hanger Floor:   On August 24, 2011, and at times prior thereto, a flexible cord was used daisy chained with a power strip in place of fixed wiring  from the outlet along  the wall.     c)  East - Avionics Shop:  On August 24, 2011, and at times prior thereto, a flexible extension cord was used in lieu of fixed wiring to the coffee machine along the wall.
