29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1):     Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.    Employees on a commercial roof were exposed to a 13.8 foot fall to a concrete sidewalk while performing roof repairs and the employer failed to effectively implement protection from falls.     Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1):     The employer did not provide a training program for each employee potentially exposed to fall hazards to enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards:    Employees on a commercial roof were exposed to fractures and death from 13.8 feet falls to a concrete sidewalk while performing roof repairs, and the employer failed to effectively implement a fall protection program.     Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(13):     The top or step of a stepladder was used as a step:    Employees on a commercial roof were exposed to fractures and death from 7 feet falls to a concrete sidewalk while performing roof repairs/remodeling and the employer allowed an employee to use the last rung of a 7 rung step ladder.     Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
