29 CFR 1926.20(b)(2): Programs did not provide for frequent and regular inspections of the job sites, materials, and equipment to be made by competent persons designated by the employers: a) Georgetown Road @ NJTP: The employer did not provide for frequent and regular inspections of the job sites, materials, and equipment to be made by competent persons. As such, employees were exposed to electrical shock hazards while operating a Junttan PM25HLC Pile Driver Crane. Additionally, employees were exposed to potential struck by hazards due to the use of wire rope lifting slings that were not permanently marked with the working load limit. Observed on or about 07/30/2012. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1926.1408(a)(2): The employer did not determine if any part of the equipment, load line or load (including rigging and lifting accessories), if operated up to the equipment's maximum working radius in the work zone, could get closer than 20 feet to a power line. a) Georgetown Road @ NJTP: Employees were exposed to electrical shock hazards when contact was made with overhead 13 kv power transmission lines while operating a Junttan PM25HLC Pile Driver Crane to lift and reposition 55 tubular steel piles. The employer did not ensure that a minimum safe working distance of 20 feet was maintained, resulting in part of the equipment or the load line contacting the energized wire. Observed on or about 07/30/2012. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM.
