29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from hazards created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:     a)     JH Semp and Sons Machining, Inc. at 790 N. 9th Ave. Brighton, CO 80603: On 8/23/12, the employer did not protect employees from hazards created by a rotating cooling unit in the warehouse. The guard on the cooling fan was missing. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards.      (b)	JH Semp and Sons Machining, Inc. at 790 N. 9th Ave. Brighton, CO 80603: On 8/23/12, the employer did not protect employees from hazards created by operating band saws with unused portion of the blade exposing a blade of 8 inches and 14 inches. 29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9):  Guard for abrasive wheel machine where the operator stands in front of the machine was not constructed so that the peripheral protecting member could be adjusted to the constantly decreasing diameter of the wheel:    (a)	JH Semp and Sons Machining, Inc. at 790 N. 9th Ave. Brighton, CO 80603: On 8/23/12, the employer did not ensure that the bench grinder located in the shop had the correct distance between the wheel periphery and the end of the peripheral member at the top and did not exceed 1/4" because the adjustable tongue was missing.  This condition exposed the employees to the hazard of flying chips and debris. 29 CFR 1910.242(b):  Compressed air used for cleaning purposes was not reduced to less than 30 psi:       (a)  JH Semp and Sons Machining, Inc. at 790 N. 9th Ave. Brighton, CO 80603: On 8/23/12, the employer did not ensure the compressed air nozzle used for cleaning off equipment in the shop was reduced to less than 30 psi. The compressed air line was pressurized at approximately 85-90 psi. This condition exposed employees using the air hose to the hazard of an embolism in the blood stream. The cylinders were located in a bathroom. The cylinders should be stored in an isolated area away from work areas and stairs.
