29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section except when excavations are made entirely in stable rock; or excavations are less than 5 feet (1.52 m) in depth and examination of the ground by a competent person provides no indication of a potential cave-in.      WORKSITE: The employees working in the excavation which measured approximately 60 feet long, between 7-6 and 8 feet wide and 7-7 and 7-11 deep were not provided with cave-in protection.    Shawns Lawns Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard (29 CFR 1926.652(a) (1)), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 312163082, citation number 1, item number 2, issued on July 8, 2008 and affirmed as a final order on July 29, 2008, with respect to a workplace located at 836 Main Street, Stamford, CT
