29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees:    Worksite:  The employer did not ensure that a ladder or other safe means of egress was present while employees were working in a trench that was greater than four feet deep.      Jay's Land Development LTD was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard, 29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 313066714, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on April, 4 2009, with respect to a workplace located at 871 Federal Road in Brookfield, CT.

Worksite:  The employer did not ensure that the spoil piles and all other excavated material were kept at least two feet from the edge of the trench in which employees were working. Worksite:  Employees who were working in a trench that ranged in depth between four and a half (4-1/2) feet and nine (9) feet deep and extended underneath an active roadway were not provided with cave-in protection.
