OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:    (a)  On or about January 17, 2013, and times prior to that date, employees were exposed to crushing hazards while working around and under the Sunco and Challenger 2-post lifts, in that the lifts were not being lowered onto the safety locks when elevated.    (b)  On or about January 17, 2013, and at times prior to that date, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards while working around the Sunco and Challenger 2-post and 4-post lifts, in that the lifts were not being inspected at least annually according to the manufactures' specifications.    Abatement note:     Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to follow the requirements of ANSI/ALI and/or ANSI B153.1 which includes, among other requirements, the following:      1.  Institute a preventive maintenance program according to the manufactures' specification.       2.  Provide training to employees on proper use and care of the lifts.      3.  Ensure all lifts are rated and marked with their load capacity.      4.  Schedule and complete all periodic and annual inspections.
