OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to the hazard of serious bodily crushing injuries and death while performing maintenance activities on a skid steer.    Establishment: The employer did not ensure through observation, instruction and training that the employee who was examining the New Holland LS 180 skid steer and exposed to crushing hazards was properly protected by installing locking pins so that the bucket of the skid steer could be placed into the proper and safe position to prevent the machine's bucket from collapsing.    On or about 02/20/2013, the bucket of the skid steer collapsed while the employee was examining and performaing maintenance of the engine compartment of the skid steer, and the employee sustained very serious broken ribs and severe bruises from the incident.
