29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. a.) Fort Lee Army Base Building 1111: On or about 02/27/13, the supervisor was not properly trained to recognize fall hazards in the work environment in that he removed a protective barrier thereby exposed employees to a 6' 3" fall.

Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a.) Fort Lee Army Base Building 1111: On or about 02/27/13, employees were not provided fall protection while working near the edge of an unprotected retainer wall thereby exposed them to a fall hazard.
