29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Every open-sided floor or platform 4 feet or more above adjacent floor or ground level shall be guarded by a standard railing (or the equivalent as specified in paragraph (e)(3) of this section) on all open sides except where there is entrance to a ramp, stairway, or fixed ladder. 29 CFR 1910.23(b)(1): 1910.23(b)(1): Every wall opening from which there is a drop of more than 4 feet was not guarded. WORKSHOP: The roller gate system for the selecting/picking area on the upstairs was not operable, and other effective and safe means were not utilized to guard or protect the open-sided floor, having approximately a 9-foot fall to the lower floor.
