29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652(c): (a) Jobsite: On or about March 7, 2013, an employee was not protected from a cave-in while he was working in an excavation that was approximately 7 1/2 feet deep. Where the employee was working in the excavation (installing piping), the south and west sidewalls were vertical and not shored. In addition, the north sidewall at this location, was improperly benched.
