29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use.   Employees engaged in part washing activities at the solvent tank in the deburr area using Dyno 143 solvent were exposed to chemical hazards in that an eye wash was not available at the facility.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.  Employees engaged in manufacturing activities at the following cnc horizontal milling centers were exposed to struck-by hazards in that the interlocks had been overridden:   a)  Hitachi Seiki HS500 asset number HM7  b)  Hitachi Seiki HS500 asset number HM9

29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning. Compressed air shall not be used for cleaning purposes except where reduced to less than 30 p.s.i. and then only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment.   Employees using compressed air for cleaning at horizontal milling centers throughout the facility were exposed to struck-by hazards in that the compressed air was not reduced to less than 30 psi.
