29 CFR 1926.451(c)(2): Supported scaffold poles, legs, posts, frames, and uprights shall bear on base plates and mud sills or other adequate firm foundation.  a)  Linda Road & Walter Road, Manahawkin, NJ:  The workers were using pump jack scaffold to install siding on a residential home without the scaffold being fully supported with mud sills to protect the system from sinking into the ground, observed on or about 4/11/13.    NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1926.451(g)(4)(i): Guardrail systems shall be installed along all open sides and ends of platforms. Guardrail systems shall be installed before the scaffold is released for use by employees other than erection/dismantling crews.  a)  Linda Road & Walter Road, Manahawkin, NJ:  The workers were using pump jack scaffold to install siding on a residential home without the use of proper fall protection such as but not limited to safety nets and end rail guards at a height of approximately 15.5 feet from the ground level, observed on or about 4/11/13.   NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
