OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) On or about May 2, 2013, and at times prior, employees were potentially exposed to crushing and struck-by hazards while operating automotive lifts under the following conditions: 1) Auto lifts were not periodically inspected by qualified inspectors at least annually to ensure that they were properly maintained and functioning; 2) The employer had not trained employees on the safe use and operation of the lifts using the manufacturer's provided insitructions. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").

29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: a) On or about May 2, 2013, and at times prior, employees were exposed to injury where no eyewash station was available for immediate use for employees dispensing Ryanson Blue Degreaser, a corrosive, from a 55 gallon drum into smaller containers. Access to the nearest eyewash station required travel through a closed door into the main shop as well as having to negotiate items stored in front of the eyewash station. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
