29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered:      (a) Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems, Inc. did not provide employees with appropriate arm protection when performing grill cleaning operations.  Employees were exposed to burn hazards and were not provided with heat resistant arm protection when cleaning the grill top.  Cleaning was performed when the grill top is at a temperature of 350 degrees Farenheit.     In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1)(i): The written hazard communication program did not include a list of the hazardous chemicals known to be present, using an identity that was referenced on the appropriate material safety data sheet:   (a) On or about May 9, 2013, Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems, Inc. did not have a list of hazardous chemicals known to be present in the workplace.  Products containing hazardous chemicals include, but are not limited to: Keystone Multi-Quat Sanitizer (alcohol, benzalkonium, chloride), Keystone Floor Cleaner (sodium hydroxide, tetrasodium EDTA), Keystone High Temperature Grill Cleaner (glycerin, potassium carbonate), Keystone Liquid Pot and Pan Detergent (alcohol, sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate), and Keystone Neutral Floor Cleaner (isopropyl alcohol).   In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1)(ii): The written hazard communication program did not include the methods the employer would use to inform employees of the hazards of non-routine tasks:    (a) On or about May 9, 2013,  Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems, Inc. did not include the methods the employer would use to inform employees of the hazards  of non-routine tasks in its hazard communication program.  Non routine tasks may include, but are not limited to: protocol for cleaning spills and/or leadk of undiluted hazardous chemicals.  Hazardous chemicals may include, but are not limited to: Keystone Multi-Quat Sanitizer (alcohol, benzalkonium, chloride), Keystone Floor Cleaner (sodium hydroxide, tetrasodium EDTA), Keystone High Temperature Grill Cleaner (glycerin, potassium carbonate), Keystone Liquid Pot and Pan Detergent (alcohol, sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate), and Keystone Neutral Floor Cleaner (isopropyl alcohol).
