29 CFR 1910.215(a)(2): Abrasive wheel(s) used on grinding machinery were not provided with safety guard(s) which covered the spindle end, nut, flange projections: The employer does not guard the spindle end, nut, and flange projections for abrasive wheels used on grinding machinery. This violation was observed on or about May 23, 2013, at the East side of Building 4923B where employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard while operating a Westward 8" bench grinder S/N 120503802 without side guards installed. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that abrasive wheels used on grinding machinery are provided with safety guards which cover the spindle end, nut and flange projections.

This violation was observed on or about May 23, 2013, at the East side of Building 4923B where employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard while operating a Westward 8" bench grinder S/N 120503802 without tongue guards installed when deburring metal parts. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that guards for abrasive wheel machines where the operator stands in front of the machine are constructed so that the peripheral protecting member could be adjusted to the constantly decreasing diameter of the wheel.
