OSH ACT of 1970 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation hazards while polishing a metal shaft on a lathe.    a)  Work site, 540 Brook Ave. Deer Park NY - Employee wearing a glove on his right hand was polishing a rotating shaft on a Knuth Basic 180 Super Lathe. The employee's right middle finger was amputated when the glove pulled his hand into the spinning work piece; on or about 6/4/13.   Note:  In addition to abatement certification the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
