The employer did not document in their Exposure Control Plan that safer medical devices were reviewed and considered on an annual basis to reduce employee exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Employee exposures include but are not limited to insulin shot administration. Condition observed on or about 6/28/2013.

29 CFR 1910.1030(c)(1)(v): The employer, who established an Exposure Control Plan did not solicit input from non-managerial employees responsible for direct patient care who are potentially exposed to injuries from contaminated sharps in the identification, evaluation, and selection of effective engineering and work practice controls and did not document the solicitation in the Exposure Control Plan: a) Saint Vincent's Nursing Home, 315 Lindsley Road, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009. The employer could not provide records that indicated that employees were asked for input on the selection of engineering and work practice controls in the Exposure Control Plan. Employees are exposed to blood and other potentially infectious material during patient care to include but not limited to insulin shot administration. Condition observed on or about 6/28/2013.
