Employees were observed using pneumatic nailers to nail (asphalt) shingles without safety eye-wear or facial protection.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(8): Ladders placed in a location where they could be displaced by workplace activities or traffic, such as in passageways, doorways, or driveways, were not secured to prevent accidental displacement, nor was a barricade used to keep the activities or traffic away from the ladder: On or about 07/02/2013, the employer did not ensure that the fiberglass extension ladder was properly secured to prevent accidental displacement. The ladder, which was placed on the concrete walkway in front of the porch area of a residential property located at 2247 Garfield Blvd. Lorain OH, was not secured. Employees completing roofing activities were observed using the ladder to access the working level.

Todd Marion d.b.a Statewide Roofing was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926. 501(b) (10), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 886823, citation number 01, item number 01(a) and was, affirmed as a final order on 03/22/2013, with respect to a workplace located at 7285 W. Harbor St. Port Clinton, OH.
