29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:      On or about July 25, 2013, and at times prior thereto, employees were allowed to operate machines that were found not having proper guards provided, including but not limited to the following instances:      1) At the Lodge Shipley CNC lathe, the lathe was found not having interlock device provided on the door.       2) At the horizontal band saw, the saw was found having the guard damaged and not fully covering the blade.      Employees were exposed to possible amputation hazards.

29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning purposes was not reduced to less than 30 p.s.i.:      On or about July 25, 2013, and at times prior thereto, in shop areas employees were allowed to use compressed air nozzles for cleaning purpose which was not the type that would reduce the pressure to below 30 p.s.i.  The employees were exposed to skin and eye injury.
