29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: (a) 2nd bridge crossing Snake Creek on S.R. 29 north of Montrose, PA: An employee applied curing agent to the west wall of the precast concrete bridge culvert box without the use of a guardrail system, safety net system or personal fall arrest system. The employee was exposed to a twelve-foot (12') fall hazard onto concrete, as observed on or about August 1, 2013. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is not required for this violation. Abatement was observed during the inspection.
