29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled electrical equipment was not used or installed in accordance with instructions included in the listing or labeling: (a) Four white relocatable power taps were daisy chained under the substation desks with computer stations consisting of flat screen monitors and CPUs. A computer workstation was plugged into an extension cord, which was plugged into a relocatable power tap in the Area Commander/ Evidence Processing Office. The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed to be plugged into an outlet, and not daisy chained and plugged into other relocatable power taps or extension cords. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. (b) A Mr. Coffee coffee pot and Whirlpool microwave were plugged into a relocatable power tap in the Storage Room. The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed for low amperage computer and audiovisual types of equipment, and not appliances. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards.
