29 CFR 1926.850(a): An engineering survey was not performed by a competent person to determine the conditions of the framing floors and walls and the possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations.    On or about August 24, 2013 the employer did not ensure that an engineering survey was performed to determine the condition of the structure prior to any demolition operations, exposing employees to struck by hazards.

29 CFR 1926.854(b): Wall sections more than one story in height were permitted to stand alone without lateral bracing when the wall section was not originally designed to stand alone without such lateral support.     On or about August 24, 2013 the employer failed to brace a masonry chimney to prevent it's collapse, exposing the employees to struck-by hazards.
