29 CFR 1926.102(a)(2): Eye and face protective equipment did not meet the requirements specified in American National Standards Institute Z87.1-1968, Practice for Occupational and Educational Eye and Face Protection, when machines or operations presented potential eye or face injury:    (a)     Bercume Builders, LLC at 2424 U.S. Highway 6, Grand Junction, CO 81506: On or before November 7, 2014, the employer did not ensure that four employees utilizing pneumatic nailers and other power tools during the sheeting of exterior walls were wearing approved safety glasses.  The employees were wearing sunglasses that did not conform to ANSI Z87.1 requirements.  Condition exposed employees to the hazard of projectiles to the eyes.

(a)     Bercume Builders, LLC at 2424 U.S. Highway 6, Grand Junction, CO 81506: On or before November 7, 2014, the employer did not ensure each employee on a walking/working surface having an unprotected side or edge which was six feet (1.8m) or more above a lower level was protected from falling by the use of a guardrail system, a safety net system, or personal fall arrest system in that an employee was engaged in sheeting an exterior wall while standing behind it without fall protection.  This condition exposed the employee to a fall hazard of approximately 14 feet.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(4): Ladders were used for purposes other than the purposes for which they were designed:    (a)     Bercume Builders, LLC at 2424 U.S. Highway 6, Grand Junction, CO 81506: On or before November 7, 2014, the employer did not ensure that employees used two ladders in a manner for which they were designed in that an approximate 6 and 10 foot tall step ladders were used as extension ladders against the building exterior wall.  This condition exposed the employees to the hazards of equipment collapse and a fall of approximately 3-4 feet.

This condition exposed the employee to hazards such as electrical shock and burns.
