Mobile ladder stands were located along the exit path, between storage shelves impeding egress. Two instances were noted: (a) Warehouse, east center aisle. (b) Warehouse, northeast side aisle, paralleling the northern wall. This condition exposed employees to delays in exiting the building, smoke inhalation, fire, and tripping hazards.

29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer did not maintain copies of the required material safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical in the workplace. Warehouse on or about 26 November 2013 and times prior thereto; the employer did not ensure that material safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical located in the workplace was readily accessible. A random sample of chemicals were selected. Four instances were noted: (a) 3M Scotch-Gard protectant, 10 ounce. (b) Krylon Fusion, super bond paint 12 ounce. (c) Sem Shredder Oil, 64 ounce. (d) WD-40 lubricant, 11 ounce. This condition exposed employees to chemical burns, irritation of the eyes and upper respiratory tract, and skin dermatitis hazards.

NARA Pacific Alaska Office on or about 26 November 2013 and times prior thereto; the employer did not provide training for appointed collateral duty safety and health officer to recognize basic safety and health hazards in the workplace and effectively assist agency safety and health officers with inspection and abatement efforts. This condition exposed employees to inadequate instruction, orientation and/or training.
