During the administration of dental anesthesia, the employer did not use commercially available and effective safer medical devices, such as, dental anesthetic needles with built-in safety features designed either to eliminate or to minimize the risk of accidental percutaneous injuries from needles contaminated with bloodborne pathogens, such as, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B (HBV), and hepatitis C (HCV).
