29 CFR 1910.157(d)(6): Portable fire extinguishers for Class D hazards were not required in those combustible metal-working areas where combustible metal powders, flakes, shavings, or similarly sized products are generated at least once every two weeks:  Packing Station: Where metal powders and metal powder blends were being packaged and stored, the employer did not require the presence and use of portable fire extinguishers for Class D hazards.  On 03/11/2014, a metal-based fire occurred at the Packing Station due to the discharge of static electricity.  The fire extinguisher available for employee use was labeled as a Class A/B/C, for ordinary combustibles, flammable liquids, and electrical equipment.
