29 CFR 1926.652(e)(2)(i): Excavation of material to a level no greater than 2 feet (.61m) below the bottom of the members of the support system was allowed when there were indications while the trench was open of a possible loss of soil from behind or below the bottom of the support system:    On or about March 17, 2014, at an excavation site, employees were working in a trench with the trench box elevated more than 2 feet above the trench floor, exposing the employees to the hazard of being crushed by collapsing soil or equipment.
