OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): OSH ACT of 1970 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: A.) Construction Site/1633 Turnpike Avenue, Clearfield, PA 16830 Pole Barn Structure/Wes Lovell dba Mecco Construction ---- On or about March 20, 2014, and at times prior thereto, workers were exposed to stuck-by/caught between hazards and resulting blunt force trauma injuries from collapsing wood trusses due to inadequate and missing truss bracing. The wood trusses for the pole barn structure were inadequately braced and/or missing bracing in that: (1) Temporary ground truss bracing was not installed at either end of the structure. (2) Temporary diagonal bracing was not installed on the top chord and bottom chord of the wood trusses. (3) Intermediate bracing in the web of the trusses was not installed on one side of the structure. (4) The wooden boards utilized for top chord lateral bracing along the bottom of the trusses were abutted against each other and were not lapped over two trusses. In addition, these boards were only secured by one nail.
