These employees provide palliative care services and are subject to exposure of blood and other potentially infection materials (OPIM).

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: Thirty-nine identified employees working at the Deseret Health & Rehab facility in Onaga had not completed Hazard Communication training. These employees are subject to exposure when using chemicals for cleaning.

29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition: At the Deseret Health & Rehab facility in Onaga, eye protection used in the laundry area was not maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition in that goggles were stored without the benefit of being sealed in an enclosure. the goggles were also suspended by the elastic retention strap on a wall hook which can diminish the elastomer qualities and effectiveness of the equipment for the next employee to use.
