29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. The employer does not ensure that employees are protected from toxic and/or corrosive chemicals. This violation was discovered on or about June 26 and at times prior thereto, when employees cleaned up a toxic chemical spill without the proper type of chemical resistant gloves.

The employer does not establish a program consisting of energy control procedures, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before an employee performs service or maintenance work on motorized a vehicle that the vehicle is isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative. This violation occurred on or about June 20, 2014, in the maintenance shop where the employer did not ensure that before an employee performed maintenance on a John Deere tractor that wheels were chocked or blocked to prevent the vehicle from unexpected movement.
