Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by falling tree sections during tree removal operations:   (a)  44 Righters Mill Rd, Gladwyne PA - On or about June 23, 2014, the employer did not provide training for the employees engaged in tree removal operations, to ensure that the employees were aware of the hazards associated with the employees specific work environment to include, but not limited to, the hazards relating proper crane operation by a qualified operator, being struck by falling tree components,  and ensuring workers not directly involved in the removal operation shall be clear of the work area where practicable beyond the length of the tree unless a team of employees is necessary to remove a particular tree.  Among other methods, one feasible abatement method to reduce these hazards is to provide training and information to employees in a carefully planned out manner prior to any tree work, such as specified in American National Standard Institute standard Z133.1 - 2012, Section 5.7 for Crane Operations, and 8.5 for Tree Removal.
