29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, were not provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact: a). On or about 7/31/14, in the Kitchen, for employees required to use Grease Strip to clean the ovens. Grease Strip contains chemicals such as, but not limited to, Sodium Hydroxide. The employer provides black gloves and safety goggles, however, the employer does not require their use. b). On or about 7/31/14, for the housekeeping staff, employees responsible for switching out the chemicals in the housekeeping closet. Employees exposed to chemicals such as, but not limited to, Diethylene Glycol. The employer provides safety goggles and nitrile gloves, however, the employer does not require their use.
