29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): "Roofing work on Low-slope roofs."  Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b) of this section, each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system:    a) On or about September 5, 2014 - at the jobsite located at 1955 W. Cermak Road, Chicago, IL. - employees performing roofing activities on a roof with a 4:12 pitch were not protected from falls, thereby exposing employees to fall hazards of approximately fifteen (15) feet two (2) inches.    The  Piper Roofing Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 63025, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on October 14, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 9555 S. Winchester Avenue, Chicago, IL. 60643.
