29 CFR 1910.179(l)(3)(i): Any unsafe conditions disclosed by the inspection requirements of paragraph (j) of this section shall be corrected before operation of the crane is resumed. Adjustments and repairs shall be done only by designated personnel.   a. Department Hex # 5 & # 6 - Cabin - On or about September 17, 2014, employees were required to use a - 2 ton CM Lode Star crane and hoist system that had a safety latch on one of the hooks which did not close properly. The company did perform daily inspections of the crane and its components, but did not repair the hook's safety latch before use. Employees were thereby potentially exposed to struck by hazards.
