29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section: Orswell Street and Laurel Street, Fall River, Ma.: The walls of the excavation were not shored or properly sloped while employees were connecting drainage lines to manholes, installing bricks around the drainage line connection, and cementing the bricks.
