29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation:   a) JW Truck Sales -Sugar Hill, GA - Employees were required to pump and pour wheel spray clean (containing >7% hydrofluoric acid), and degreaser (containing sodium hydroxide) into other smaller containers to clean trucks. An employee was splashed in the eyes with wheel spray clean, and chemical resistant goggles were not provided and used, on or about 12/27/14.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

Acid resistant gloves were not used, on or about 12/27/14. 29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use:   a) JW Truck Sales -Sugar Hill, GA - Employees were using car cleaning chemicals, such as, but not limited to Wheel spray clean (containing >7 % hydrofluoric acid)  tire shine, and degreaser (containing sodium hydroxide) to clean trucks.  The emergency eye wash provided was not adequate to flush both eyes simultaneously and the body in case of an emergency, on or about 12/27/14.    In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

The 55 gallon drum did not have the appropriate label and hazard warning, on or about 01/12/15.  b) JW Truck Sales -Sugar Hill, GA - Employees were using 55 gallon drums of degreaser (containing sodium hydroxide) to clean cars and trucks. Information and training under the new globally harmonized system (GHS) such as, but not limited to labeling system, and written hazard communication program had not been conducted, on or about 01/12/15.
