OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: Near 46619 County Highway 2, Griggsville, IL, an employee was exposed to about a 14 foot fall hazard when he was lifted in the bucket of a 320 John Deere skid steer to place 2 x 4 bracing on the trusses and the employer did not prohibit loader bucket from being used as an elevating device for personnel. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement may include, but is not limited to the following: 1. Prohibit personnel from riding in the bucket in accordance with the warning label on the John Deere skid steer. 2. Use an aerial lift, scissor lift or other equipment designed for elevating personnel when bracing trusses. 3. Provide a suitable work platform secured to a piece of equipment designed for lifting personnel on the platform. 4. Conduct work activities from a suitable scaffold system.
