The observed personnel were involved in removing branches from a tree at a residential site.

29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered:    Work site located at 2344 Central Ave, Nebraska City, NE:  An employee and the co-owner of the company were observed working with a chain saw without any type of protective equipment being utilized.  The protective equipment was available at the site but not used.  This would include protection for the eyes, face, head, arms, legs, and hands.                                            Abatement certification is required for this violation.  The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.

The employee had not received training which included: when PPE is necessary; what PPE is necessary; how to properly use the PPE, the limitations of PPE; and the care and maintenance of PPE.           Abatement certification is required for this violation.  The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
