29 CFR 1910.180(d)(4)(ix): Periodic inspections of the crane were not performed at intervals as generally defined in paragraph (d)(2)(ii) of this section depending upon its activity, severity of service, and environment:   Employees were exposed to injury while operating the PettiBone crane due to the lack of operational brakes to stop the truck. Periodic inspections were not performed to determine any malfunction that would constitute a safety hazard, such as but not limited to, travel steering, brakes, and locking devices.
